Belgium Rootstime Magazine described her from her 2008 independently released full length debut "Gypsy As I Go" as ..."a clear and pure voice, destined to appear on many stages."
Most people hearing Cathleen sing for the first time would be forgiven if they believed that she has always been singing. With early childhood memories of a father who played guitar and a mother who sang at family parties, she comes by her love of music naturally. Self-taught, she didn't record her debut full length CD until she was 35, with Yorkton this Week describing her songs from her debut as "there is honesty in her words, you can tell that she just wants to tell stories and the words flow as a result." Her voice is a contrast, vulnerable and bold with a soulful depth stretching beyond her short time as a performer. Ottawa College Radio CKCU's Thursday Morning Special Blend choose her song "What Comes Around Goes Around" from her debut CD among the Top Ten of 2008 songs.
The follow-up to her debut, her second full length CD "Brilliant Bright" independently released in the spring of 2012 features 11 self-penned songs written of love and loss, rolling grey prairie skies and redemption. An eclectic mix of folk, alt country and rock-roots, "Brilliant Bright" has seen college radio support across Canada. Reaching Number 9 on Calgary's CJSW Folk Charts in October of 2012 and reaching Number 4 on Kamloop's CFBX Folk/Roots Charts in January 2013. It was also included in Edmonton’s CKUA Top 30 HotBox List of programmer favourites in October 2012. Stumbling upon her music path later in life than most artists and with an indie DIY approach from day one, this Canadian singer/songwriter is a raw and genuine talent with more creative energy to burn. She performs as a solo artist with simple and sparse guitar and performs as a duo with guitar accompaniment. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she has called Saskatchewan home for the past 10 years.
